Photofab is a world leader in chemical etching and employs 80 people from its base in St Neots, Cambridgeshire. The company has been a client of Dragon IS since 2015.

Before COVID19 hit a handful of employees at Photofab had remote access, with plans in place to gradually increase this over time. However, the speed of lockdown meant Photofab needed many more employees to have remote access as quickly as possible.

The Dragon team jumped into action, setting up remote working for all employees who needed it, including both Mac and PC users. Employees have been given full access to their usual desktop, server and applications, just as they would were they still in the office.

Dragon has also supported Photofab to make the most of its existing technology, to facilitate the increase in remote working. For example, using the full capabilities of Microsoft Teams for video conferencing and interaction.

 

Increased productivity

While lockdown and the move to remote working was a big change and somewhat of a challenge for some employees at first, they have since adapted. Photofab has seen an increase in productivity and using technology to communicate with each other, as opposed to setting up physical meetings, has also improved efficiency.

Neil Shorten, Photofab MD, explains: “Lockdown ended up happening much faster than we anticipated, so we needed to react fast. The team at Dragon was great, including solving some issues we were having with Macs. They got everyone up and running quickly and continue to support us to get the most out of our existing technology.”
