The Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM) is the leading professional body for resource and waste professionals, representing more than 5,500 individuals in the UK and overseas.
Dragon has been working with the CIWM since January 2019, when the organisation decided to switch from having an in-house IT manager to outsourcing its IT requirements. As well as managing the team’s day-to-day needs, Dragon has supported CIWM with an office move and is now helping the organisation navigate the key challenges presented by COVID19.
With a team of 25 people but only four previously set up for remote working, Dragon needed to work quickly to enable secure remote access for all CIWM employees when the lockdown was introduced.
Existing laptops were updated and configured, including firewalls and other security features, with two additional laptops also being sourced and supplied. Any issues with microphones and cameras were fixed and ongoing technical support given, so the CIWM team could make full use of Microsoft Teams and its external and internal collaboration tools.
Rebecca Penberthy, head of member support at CIWM, explains: “Thanks to Dragon, the lockdown caused us minimal disruption and we were up and running with remote working almost instantly.
